Win a Tesla With UK Tesla Competitions

Tesla is one of the most searched-for prizes in UK car competitions, and it’s easy to see why. A Model 3 or Model Y is quick, cheap to run and packed with technology, but well beyond what most people want to spend. Competition operators give Teslas away every week through standard draws, instant wins and “choose your own car” prizes, and every paid draw lets you enter free by post. And with the new Roadster unveiled this month, plenty of people are already wondering whether they’ll be able to win one of those too.

Which Tesla Are You Playing For?

The model matters, because it affects the cash alternative, the running costs and how often the prize comes up.

Tesla Competitions Live Now

You can filter by competition type as well as model, since Tesla prizes come in a few different formats.

Three Ways Teslas Get Given Away

Standard Draws

Most Tesla competitions work the usual way: you buy numbered tickets, the competition closes on a set date, and a winner is drawn at random, often on a livestream. Your chance depends on how many tickets are sold, so check the maximum ticket number before entering.

Instant Win Competitions

Some operators, BOTB among them, offer Teslas as instant win prizes. A set number of ticket numbers are pre-allocated as winners, and you find out straight away if yours is one of them. Because the car can be won at any point, it may already be gone by the time you enter, so check whether the top prize is still available.

Choose Your Own Car

A few sites offer a “win a Tesla” prize that’s really a car allowance. Daymade, for example, has run a Tesla prize that lets the winner choose a car up to a set value. That flexibility can be useful if you’d rather pick your own spec, or a different car entirely.

The New Tesla Roadster: Can You Win One Yet?

What Tesla Showed

On 15 October 2026, Tesla unveiled its next-generation Roadster at a SpaceX test site in Texas. In an unmanned demonstration, the car drove up an inverted ramp, held on by a suction system, flew off the end upside down and used cold-gas thrusters to rotate in mid-air and land on its wheels. Tesla claims a 0 to 60mph time of under one second.

The car is planned in three configurations, called Performance, Thrust and Rocket, with the latter two using thrusters developed with SpaceX. They fire compressed air rather than rocket fuel.

When It Will Actually Exist

Elon Musk said production should start in 2028. That’s a target rather than a promise: the Roadster was first announced in 2017 and originally due in 2020. Tesla hasn’t confirmed a final price, and reservations in the US have ranged from $50,000 to $250,000. Tesla’s own site notes that the flying version isn’t approved for public roads, and there’s no word yet on UK availability or right-hand drive.

Why You Won’t See It as a Prize Just Yet

Competition operators can only give away cars that exist and can be registered. Until the Roadster is in production and available in the UK, it won’t appear as a genuine competition prize. If it does reach British roads, it’s exactly the kind of headline car the big operators like to offer, and we’ll list any legitimate Roadster competitions here as soon as they appear.

Watch Out for Fake Roadster Giveaways

High-profile launches attract scammers, and fake “win the flying Tesla” posts are already a safe bet on social media. A genuine competition won’t ask you to pay a fee to claim a prize, and it won’t be offering a car that isn’t on sale. Our guide on how to spot competition scams covers the warning signs.

How to Win a Tesla for Free

There are two genuine ways. Every legitimate paid Tesla competition must offer a free postal entry with the same chance of winning as a bought ticket, which our guide to the free entry route explained walks through. And brands occasionally run free electric car giveaways; Teslas appear now and then, though cars from other EV makers are more common. Our free car competitions page tracks the ones we’ve verified.

Living With a Tesla You’ve Won

Charging

A home charger makes a Tesla cheap to run, but installation is an extra cost and needs off-street parking. Without one, you’ll rely on Tesla’s Supercharger network and other public chargers, which cost noticeably more per mile.

Insurance

Teslas tend to sit in higher insurance groups than similarly priced petrol cars, mainly because of repair costs. Performance models cost more again. Our guide to insurance after winning a car explains what to arrange before handover.

Road Tax

Electric cars now pay road tax in the UK, starting with a low first-year rate and then the standard annual rate. Higher-priced versions can also attract the extra charge for cars above a certain list price.

Software and Features

Some Tesla features are paid add-ons tied to the car or account. Check what’s included with the prize, particularly on used cars, as not every option transfers automatically.

What We Check on Every Tesla Draw

We’re an independent comparison site and don’t run competitions or sell tickets. We may earn a commission when you enter through our links, but that never affects which Tesla competitions we list or their order. Each one is checked for an 18+ restriction, a published ticket cap and closing date, a clear free entry route and a stated cash alternative, and we note whether the operator has signed the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s voluntary code. For instant wins, we also check that the operator shows whether the top prize is still available. Our methodology covers the full process.

Before You Chase a Tesla

A Tesla is a long shot in any draw. Set a budget before browsing, don’t chase draws in their closing hours, and use free postal entries where you can. Our guide to car competition odds explained shows how to compare your chances. If entering has stopped being fun, the National Gambling Helpline is free on 0808 8020 133.
